Joel Campbell has had a strange Arsenal career with a number of loans and being unable to get into the starting XI, but the Costa Rican has slowly forced his way into Wenger’s first team plans and is slowly taking his chance.
And tonight it seems like the 23 year old arrived on the big stage with Arsenal with a performance that had fans purring.
Campbell looked the part for Arsenal just when they needed him most and his brilliant assist for Olivier Giroud’s second goal capped off a display that smacked of a player that had stood up to be counted when Arsenal needed him most.
Campbell was subbed off late in the game to a standing ovation from both Arsenal fans as well as fans of Olympiacos, where he spent a season on loan
With such an impressive display under his belt what’s next for Campbell? Is this the making of the young attacker? Can he kick on and fulfil the promise that has seen Wenger persist with him having signed him way back 2011?
