Mixed transfer news for Wenger as one comes but one stays

Karim+Benzema+Grzegorz+Krychowiak+Real+Madrid+wZWCVGaDumklArsene Wenger’s pursuit of Karim Benzema is dead in the water for now, but he could enjoy success in bringing in a midfielder, with Sevilla defensive midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak a possibility by the weekend.

Arsenal have consistently been linked with a move for the French striker but nothing has come of the speculation so far with both Benzema and Real Madrid insisting that the player is going nowhere.

Of course this has done little to quell rumours but unlike in the past where clubs have insisted a player isn’t for sale only for him to head out of the door, there seems to be no budging from this stance from all involved with Benzema’s agent reiterating that he won’t be going anywhere too.

We’re pretty certain 1000% isn’t a real thing but that’s how certain Benzema’s agent Karim Djaziri is that his client will be a Real Madrid player come the end of the transfer window, according to The Daily Star:

“Karim is very happy at Real Madrid and he will be a Real Madrid player by the end of this transfer window, 1,000 per cent.

“Karim is not looking to move anywhere this summer.”

Seems set in stone, but stranger things have happened!

On a more positive note, Arsenal are ready to activate the €30m buyout clause in Grzegorz Krychowiak’s contract and bring the Pole to The Emirates.

Arsenal have been crying out for a defensively disciplined midfielder and whilst Coquelin has done a good job in his first team run since January, there are still uncertainties around the young French midfielder, especially with his display against Crystal Palace last week where he was lucky not to see red.

Krychowiak has impressed at Sevilla in his sole season at the Andalusian club, helping Unai Emery’s side win the second of back to back Europa Leagues.

Sevilla will loathe to see the 25 year old leave but will be powerless to stop Arsenal from negotiating with him of they activate his release clause.

I suspect Sevilla will be praying Arsenal call Ed Woodward to handle negotiations then!
