You have to feel sorry for Arsenal, no matter where they finished in their Champions League group they were going to get a tough draw!
But don’t write them off yet, I very much feel they have a chance of progressing. This isn’t the Bayern of 3/4 years ago under Jupp Heynckes or even Pep Guardiola who were criticised for under performing in Europe. It hasn’t been a vintage year for the German champions and whilst they sit top of the table, they are being run close by newcomers Leipzig following a number of draws and losses.
Arsenal, on their day, are more than capable of beating Bayern, they just have to make sure the tie is live when they head back to the Emirates, something very doable.
Away goals will likely come into it and could prove crucial with the second leg at home, something that can be an advantage.
I can see Bayern scoring in London, but whether they can get something in Germany is where the tie will be won or lost.
Man City vs Monaco
This draw is as good as it gets for City, I think they will comfortably get past Monaco. We saw against Tottenham that they are a decent side but that’s it, they are nothing more than decent and Spurs underperformed massively.
Leicester vs Sevilla
This is a tough game for Leicester, they had an easy group thanks to seeding and made light work of the likes of Porto (at home at least), Copenhagen and Club Brugge. But Sevilla should pose a completely different problem. The Andalusian side are 3rd in La Liga ahead of Atletico Madrid, and Liverpool will attest to how good they can be after losing to them in the final of last season’s Europa League.
