Having gone Mr Liverpool on us, it seems Michael Owen wants to erase his Manchester United past.
The striker joined United in the twilight of his career and became an instant cult hero with a last minute winner against Man City in the derby but did little else.
After spending the majority of his 3 years at Old Trafford on the bench, eventually the striker would move on to Stoke but not before doing something he couldn’t at Liverpool and get his hands on a Premier League winner’s medal.
Since hanging up his boots, Owen has become a club ambassador at Liverpool, a role that has pretty much seen him turn his back on his United links.
Working as a pundit for BT Sports Owen has been full of criticism for his old side, but has been particularly critical of striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The striker endured a barren run earlier in the season as he soon learned that the Premier League is a lot tougher than Ligue 1, but manager Jose Mourinho flew to his player’s defence with a scathing barb that left Owen laughing rather uncomfortably!
Mourinho - "Zlatan will score more goals in one season than Michael Owen did in 3 seasons at Man Utd"
