Another game another disappointment for Manchester United, as the Jose Mourinho’s men look no closer to getting themselves out of the mire.
There were positives to take from the weekend’s draw with Burnley as United peppered their North West neighbour’s goal but to no avail. The consensus was that not every goalkeeper will have a worldy against them every week?
That wasn’t an issue tonight as United mustered a measly single shot on goal in the 2-1 loss to Fenerbahce.
Disjointed, timid and tepid United were outfought in Turkey and it left frequent United naysayer Paul Scholes with a horrible taste in his mouth.
Post match he didn’t mince his words about United’s poor performance, but it was his team sheet that said the most as BT Sport host Jake Humphrey tweeted out the former United player’s defaced piece of paper:
The team sheet tells a story of frustration that I’m sure most United fans felt, but the most eye catching thing is what he did to Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho’s name.
There is a theory that United’s old boys were pretty adamant that Ryan Giggs should replace Louis Van Gaal, so when the job was given to Jose Mourinho and Giggs left the club it lead to a similar type of sniping that took place when Giggs was overlooked in favour of Louis Van Gaal.
Scholes’ big X through Mourinho’s name speaks volumes, although as the worm begins to turn at Old Trafford and things continue to get worse there will be a few United fans that feel the same!
