Manchester United will have to look elsewhere for a replacement for David De Gea after Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino stated Hugo Lloris would not be leaving White Hart Lane this summer.
United are likely to be in the hunt for a new stopper this summer if David De Gea completes his move to Real Madrid and whilst nothing has been confirmed, United are preparing for the inevitable.
Louis Van Gaal recently admitted that he drawn up a shortlist of goalkeepers in the event that De Gea does return to Spain, thought to include Inter Milan’s Samir Handanović, Chelsea’s Petr Cech and Ajax’s Jasper Cillessen.
But one player who they can strike off is Lloris following Pochettino’s comments today.
Speaking to reporters on Spurs’ post season tour, Pochettino said:
“There have been a lot of rumours, but Hugo wants to stay with us and we are happy with him too. He is happy and everything else is just rumour.”
