Last week Brazilian attacker Roberto Firmino was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford, and whilst there was no official confirmation of interest came from Manchester United, a number of journalists took to Twitter to claim that United were not interested in the Hoffenheim player.
It sounded like they had been briefed by the club, but the rumours refused to die and things are set to step up a notch after the Brazilian’s agent claimed that he is set to move to the Premier League.
The 23 year old impressed at Hoffenheim this season, scoring 7 and creating 10 piquing interest amongst Europe’s top clubs and with United looking to add goals to their team United were understandably thought to be one of the sides interested.
Firmino’s agent Roger Wittmann previously stated that his client would be on the move as long as Hoffenheim’s valuation was met:
“When we extended the contract, we agreed that a winter transfer [in January 2015] would not become an issue.
“We agreed that Roberto can leave the club in the summer [of 2015], should Hoffenheim agree a transfer fee with a club.”
And it appears this is the case as he confirmed that his client will be on the move, specifically to England.
“All I can say is that he’s moving to England.”
Despite United’s interest, they aren’t the only English side that have been looking at the player with Liverpool also linked with a move so United fans shouldn’t rush out to get his name printed on the back of their shirts yet!
