Vitoria Guimaraes’ Bernard Mensah has confirmed that Manchester United have shown an interest in signing him this summer.
The 20 year old Ghanaian, emerged as a shock target for United last week and immediately drew comparison’s with the club’s signing of Bebe given Mensah being unknown and that he comes from the same club as the Portuguese flop.
United have reportedly been watching the midfielder along with a host of other clubs, and now Mensah has told A Bola that United are ready to act on their interest.
“It’s true that United want to sign me.
“I haven’t talked to anyone from United, but I know from my agent that they are currently negotiating with my club.
“Right now, I’m focused on Vitória though.”
Mensah’s transfer rights are part owned by super agent Jorge Mendes who also acts as his agent. This could pose an obstacle in any potential move as the Premier League does not allow for third party ownership.
