Arsenal secured their berth in Last 16 of the Champions League again, but were rocked by news of a long term injury to Jack Wilshire whilst Mikel Arteta also limped off against Dortmund and must be a big doubt for Saturday’s visit to The Hawthorns. The Gunners have made their worst start to a Premier League Season in 19 years. At 17/20 Arsenal are too short here in my opinion and a draw at 13/5 looks the value call here.
Burnley vs AstonVilla
After waiting so long to get their first Premier League win of the season Burnley have a great chance of making it 3 in a row against Aston Villa at Turf Moor in a match which they will have earmarked as one of those crucial in their bid to remain in the Premier League. Roy Keane departed from Villa on Friday which was a blow but no surprise, and after such a great start to the campaign they have been very poor in recent weeks odds against at 6/5 is a decent price on a home win here.
It is hard to believe Liverpool are 4/6 to beat Stoke at Anfield. At the start of the season you would have expected 1/3 but Liverpool have been a big let down so far this season and are very lucky to still be in with a chance of reaching last 16 of Champions League, something they will achieve if they beat Basle in a huge match at Anfield next month. Despite the price I take Liverpool to win, but think a narrow victory 1-0 may be the best call or draw Half time Liverpool Full Time at around 7/2.
Manchester United were fortunate to beat Arsenal to get into the top 4 and with back to back home games against Hull and Stoke will be hoping to cement that position with 6 points. Anything less will be a major blow to Louis Van Gaal, despite their major injury problems which now include Luke Shaw who is sidelined till New Year. 1/3 is short on a United win but I see no other result here.
If QPR are to retain their Premier League place it will be thanks to their home form at Loftus Road, they have played really well their this season and at 5/4 should be backed to gain 3 points against Leicester City whom have fallen back after a superb start to their Premier League campaign having come up as decisive Championship Winners last season.
Swansea and Crystal Palace looks a hard one to call and at 12/5 is value to end all square although Palace come into the game on a high coming from behind to secure an unlikely home win against Liverpool last time out.
Newcastle are 12/5 to continue their amazing run at Upton Park in a huge match for ex Hammers boss Alan Pardew. He has turned a desperate season into an exciting one in last few weeks, repaying the faith Mike Ashley showed in him by producing a side whom has won 6 in a row; totally unthinkable just a few weeks ago. They are value to keep it going in East London on Saturday afternoon with West Ham certain to miss key defender Winston Reid, who has had a superb season, through suspension.
Chelsea at 2/5 will be a banker for so many in Saturday night’s live Sky clash at The Stadium of Light. Sunderland are 7/1 for another shock win against Chelsea following their amazing win at Stamford Bridge at the end of last season, but this Chelsea team looks very strong in all areas. That said it won’t be easy for the Blues so Draw Half Time Chelsea Full Time is fair at 3/1 with Costa an obvious candidate to score first. Some bookies have already paid out on Chelsea winning the title which is a bit strong, but it would be a brave man to back anyone else this season as they are currently the best team in the Premier League by some margin.
Manchester City received two Champions League lifelines on Tuesday night, firstly with CSKA Moscow and Roma drawing and then with Sergio Aguero grabbing a memorable hat trick with two late goals to earn a memorable win against Bayern Munich to keep their faint Champions League hopes alive. City are 5/4 to win against Southampton who have been a joy under Ronald Koeman’s guidance this season. The Saints will have plenty of backers at 11/5 but have had a decent run of fixtures and I expect City to win this one. Aguero at 23/20 in his current form is a great bet to score at any time in the match.
Spurs have had some dreadful results following their Europa League matches this season, which will encourage Everton backers this weekend at 11/5 in what is always a great fixture at White Hart Lane. Everton played well in Germany in midweek and look the value to land the spoils in Sky’s Super Sunday clash, become the fifth visiting team to win in N17 this season.
