There are two mouthwatering games this weekend; at 5pm UK Time on Saturday Real Madrid face Barcelona at The Bernabeu It is live on Sky Sports 5 but you will not see opening 15 mins live due to a draconian rule preventing live football coverage on TV between 14:45 and 17:15 on a Saturday. I am sure I am not alone in thinking this rule is a total joke but I understand why it was put in place but just feel times have changed.
Luis Suarez will make his Barcelona debut here in what will be a raucous affair; there is no love lost between these two and I saw Barcelona toy with Ajax on Tuesday while Real did the same against Liverpool on Wednesday. These games are hard to call but Neymar is overpriced at 13/2 to score first as is Benzema at same odds. Ronaldo 4/1, Messi 9/2 and Suarez 6/1 will all be backed but I go for Neymar at 13/2 to score first just like he did when he burst onto the European scene a year ago in this fixture at Nou Camp.
With the match impossible to call with any degree of accuracy I prefer to take the total goals option of 4 or more at 6/5 those who want to be braver may look at 5 or more at 5/2 six goals is a 10/1 chance while it is 14/1 for 7 or more in the game. Most fancy goals of course and so do bookies with 17/1 on 0-0 as big a price as I have ever seen pre match on a big game for this outcome.
The Premier League offers its Blockbuster at Old Trafford at 4pm on Sunday between Manchester United and Chelsea. Last season’s encounter here was dour, ending 0-0 which is a 10/1 chance on Sunday and despite United drawing 0-0 at Burnley earlier in the season, I will be surprised if there are no goals here. Wayne Rooney is still suspended so I expect Falcao to start after only being on the bench in the 2-2 draw at West Brom on Monday, he looks a decent price to score first at 5/1. United have been fast starters this season so at 12/5 look value to lead at half time, they are 19/10 to win at 90 mins which will be as big as you will get all season. Chelsea will be dangerous and popular to win at 7/5 with Hazard at 8/1 value to net first if Chelsea are to win they may do so by holding United till half time and winning in the 2nd half which is available at 19/4, Chelsea would love a draw available at 12/5 and in a match with so many differing opinions so would the bookies!
West Ham are 9/2 for a shock home win on Saturday Lunchtime with Man City where 0-0 looks a very big price at 14/1 City deserve to be favourites but 11/20 looks on the short side and 100/30 looks over the odds on a draw here.
Southampton whom thrashed Sunderland last week will be popular at 3/5 to beat Stoke while I was quiet impressed with WBA on Monday night against Manchester United and back them to get 3 points against Crystal Palace.
Arsenal got out of jail against Anderlecht on Wednesday thanks to a heroic last 5 minutes including a wonderful Kieran Gibbs equaliser but they were poor and Sunderland whom were woeful last weekend may be facing The Gunners at a good time. I know this will surprise many but I feel Gus Poyet’s team are value at 4/1 for a shock win that would illustrate just how crazy this game we all love really is!
Liverpool should beat Hull but will not be carrying my cash at 4/9 while Swansea and Leicester looks value at 5/2 to end all square at The Liberty.
Burnley are 100/30 for their first Premier League win against Everton on Sunday and with Everton having been involved in Europa League action on Thursday may be the value to get it. Tottenham whom also played on Thursday night will fancy their chances against Newcastle but after finally getting off the mark against Leicester last week it would be typical of Newcastle to follow up, although wins for the Geordies south of Watford are collectors items and this one would pay 4/1.
QPR played really well in defeat against Liverpool last Sunday, a repeat of that without the basic mistakes which included two own goals and they will collect 3 points on Monday against Aston Villa and are a decent bet at 6/4 to do so.
