It emerged yesterday that Chelsea wonderkid Charly Musonda is considering a departure from Stamford Bridge over a lack of playing time.
Young players come and go, ask Manchester United who famously lost the services of Richard Eckersley, taking Burnley to tribunal in 2010 and earning £500k in the process. No major loss right? Fast forward 2 years and Man United again found themselves going to tribunal, this time for Paul Pogba. Astonishingly they earned just £300k more the French midfielder, with Juventus paying £800k for the youngster now ranked as one of the best players in the world.
Unfortunately for Chelsea it appears that Musonda will likely fall into the latter category, with the Belgian tipped to go on and become a world beater.
Musonda is already a Belgian u21 international, where he is rated as better than Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne at the same age so it is understandable that Chelsea are nervous about losing the midfielder.
Of course the fact that he has signed a deal with the club that should keep him in West London until 2019, but we’ve seen players force moves before and this could be the case with Musonda’s father also wanting his son to leave Chelsea in search of first team football.
We can hear Arsenal and Manchester United licking their lips from here
